3.3.3 Slide show
A slide show is a sequence of individual slides or pages displayed in a continuous, automated, or manual presentation format. Slide shows are commonly used for a variety of purposes, including business presentations, educational lectures, photo albums, and more.
Creating a slide show:
- Open presentation software: Launch your preferred presentation software (e.g., PowerPoint, Google Slides) and open the presentation you want to turn into a slide show.
- Create or edit slides: Design or edit your individual slides. You can add text, images, graphics, charts, and other content to convey your message.
- Slide order: Arrange your slides in the desired order to ensure a logical flow for your presentation.
- Slide design: Apply consistent design elements, such as fonts, colors, and templates, to maintain a cohesive look throughout the presentation.
- Transitions and animations (Optional): You can add slide transitions and animations to create visual effects when moving from one slide to the next. This can make the slide show more engaging.

Delivering a slide show:
Once you’ve created your slide show, you can deliver it in several ways:
- Manual presentation:
- Start the slide show by clicking the “Start Slide Show” button in your presentation software. Navigate through the slides manually using keyboard shortcuts or mouse clicks.
- In manual mode, you have full control over the pacing of the presentation.
- Automated presentation:
- Set the slides to advance automatically after a specified duration (e.g., every 5 seconds). This is useful for unattended presentations.
- Automated presentations are often used in digital signage, kiosks, and self-running displays.
- Presenter mode (speaker view):
-
- Many presentation software tools offer a “Presenter View” that shows you the current slide, the next slide, and your speaker notes on your screen while displaying only the current slide to the audience. This is helpful for speakers.
- Remote presentation:
- In a remote or online presentation, you can share your slide show through video conferencing or screen-sharing tools. Your audience views the slides on their screens.
- Exported file:
- You can export your slide show as a standalone file (e.g., a PowerPoint presentation file or PDF) that can be opened and viewed on any compatible device.
